Ans : Human development index is a statistical tool that measures key dimensions of human development. The index was developed by United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in 1990 AD. The HDI measures the average achievements in a country in three basic dimensions of human development. They are explained below: i. A long and healthy life:- Measured by life expectancy at birth. ii. Knowledge (Education):- Measured by average years of schooling in adult population 25 years and above. And expected years of schooling for school age children five years and above. iii. Decent standard of living:- Measured by Gross National Income (GNI) per capita at purchasing power parity.
